MEETING MINUTES
MINUTES: NOV. 18, 2007
The meeting was moved to Sweeter House of Coffee due to a scheduling conflict at Ron’s Lounge.
Meeting began at 6:10 p.m.
In attendance: Bill Isaak, Mitch Boyce, Jim Rudy, Andy Glauber, Larrie Wiggand, Todd Cook, Bill Wood, Jim Gallatin, Connie Frierdich, and Barb Maue
Connie Frierdich read both the minutes and the treasurer’s report from the Oct. 21st meeting.
A discussion was held on how to choose the schools who would receive the Sportsmanship Awards. Bill had received many nominations, and it was necessary to narrow the field. It was decided that those in attendance would discuss the individual schools and eliminate any school that posed a problem for any of the officials present.
After discussion the remaining schools were: Triad, Columbia, Gibault, Belleville East, Breese Central, Valmeyer, Metro-East Lutheran, Highland, and Freeburg.
It was decided that Bill would include these 9 schools in an email to the association members. They would be asked to vote for their top 3.
The topic of new officers was discussed. Bill Wood nominated Paul Cermak for the new vice-president. The members voted unanimously to name Paul for this position. CONGRATULATIONS PAUL!
We had no nominations to take over the secretary/treasurer position. It was decided that Barb Maue and Connie Frierdich would share these duties.
Connie Frierdich, Bill Isaak, Carnen Oeltjen, Barb Maue, and Mitch Boyce attended the Pass It On session at the state tournament in Bloomington on Nov. 10. Connie, Bill, Barb, and Mitch shared their thoughts on the trip.
Jim Gallatin asked if anyone had any thoughts on the website. He was wondering if the members thought it was useful. He will look into putting availability online for 2009.
A short discussion was held on any suggestions for rule changes to be forwarded to the IHSA Office. At this time, the members did not have any suggestions.
Meeting dates and times were set for 2008. They are as follows:
Aug. 17 – Clinic followed by meeting – 1 p.m.
(Bill Wood will contact Josh Konkel and Nashville High School to see if they would be willing to let the association use their facility for the clinic.)
Sept. 21 – Ron’s Lounge – 5 p.m.
Oct. 19 – Ron’s Lounge – 5 p.m.
Nov. 23 – Ron’s Lounge – 5 p.m.
Bill Isaak motioned to adjourn the meeting. Jim Gallatin seconded the motion.
